Preservation of Greater  Manchester's Transport

In Greater  Manchester, three groups have been established to  preserve transport from the area.

GMTS (Greater  Manchester Transport Society) operates Greater Manchester's  Museum of Transport in conjunction with GMPTE. Many buses  from the corporations and companies that formed SELNEC  are preserved in the Museum and the Society also has a  large archive for the area's transport history.

Greater  Manchester's Museum of Transport is located in Cheetham  Hill, Manchester and is open regularly. Please visit www.gmts.co.uk for more information.

The SELNEC  Preservation Society was formed in the late 1980s to  preserve significant buses from SELNEC and Greater  Manchester Transport. They currently have around 30  vehicles and more information can be obtained from their  website: www.selnec.org.uk

The GM Buses  Group was formed in 1999 to help to preserve 8551 - ANA  551Y and 8151 - VBA 151S, both kept at St.Helens  Transport Museum. 8151 is also owned by the Museum. 8697  has recently joined the Group. The Group has an interest  in GM Standards and the history of Greater Manchester  Transport as well as GM Buses.
